MCP Server

The Whisper Memos MCP server lets AI assistants read your memos and delete the ones you no longer need. Once connected, you can ask things like “What did I record about the product launch last week?” or “Turn my memos from yesterday into a to-do list”, and your assistant looks through your transcripts to answer.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard supported by Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, and many other AI tools.

A connected assistant can read your memo transcripts, summaries, and labels. It can see basic account details (your email address, sign-up date, transcription language, and memo email settings), so it can tell you which account is connected. It can also delete a memo when you ask it to. Deleting a memo through an assistant works the same as deleting it in the app, and it cannot be undone. The assistant cannot create or edit memos, and it cannot access your audio recordings.

You’ll paste this URL into your AI app:

https://whispermemos.com/mcp

You don’t need an API key. You approve the connection in the Whisper Memos app on your iPhone, so make sure you’re signed in there first.

Works on all Claude plans, on the web and in the desktop app.

  1. Open Claude and go to Customize → Connectors
  2. Click +, then Add custom connector
  3. Paste the server URL and click Add
  4. Click Connect next to Whisper Memos
  5. Approve the connection on your iPhone

To use it in a chat, click + in the message box, open Connectors, and make sure Whisper Memos is turned on.

On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner first adds the connector in Organization settings → Connectors. Members then click Connect in Customize → Connectors.

Requires a paid ChatGPT plan and uses ChatGPT’s Developer mode.

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web and go to Settings → Security and login
  2. Turn on Developer mode
  3. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and click +
  4. Name it Whisper Memos, paste the server URL, and create it
  5. Approve the connection on your iPhone

To use it, start a new chat, click + in the message box, choose Developer mode, and select Whisper Memos.

In the Codex app:

  1. Go to Settings → MCP servers and click Add server
  2. Name it whisper-memos, choose Streamable HTTP, and paste the server URL
  3. Save, then click Authenticate
  4. Approve the connection on your iPhone

In the Codex CLI, run these two commands, then approve the connection:

Terminal window
codex mcp add whisper-memos --url https://whispermemos.com/mcp
Terminal window
codex mcp login whisper-memos

Run this command in your terminal:

Terminal window
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user whisper-memos https://whispermemos.com/mcp

Then open Claude Code, type /mcp, select whisper-memos, and follow the prompt to sign in. Approve the connection on your iPhone.

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then click Connect next to Whisper Memos in Cursor’s MCP settings:

{
"mcpServers": {
"whisper-memos": {
"url": "https://whispermemos.com/mcp"
}
}
}

Look for an option to add a remote MCP server or custom connector, and paste the server URL. Whisper Memos works with any app that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in.

When you connect, your AI app opens a Connect to Whisper Memos page in your browser.

The Connect to Whisper Memos page with a QR code
  1. Scan the QR code with your iPhone camera. If you’re already on your iPhone, tap Open Whisper Memos instead.
  2. Whisper Memos opens and asks Allow access?
  3. Check that the app name matches the AI app you’re connecting, then tap the checkmark to allow.
The Allow access screen in Whisper Memos

The browser page finishes on its own and sends you back to your AI app. That’s it.

The approval page expires after 5 minutes. If it does, start the connection again from your AI app. Nothing is shared until you tap allow, so only approve connections you started yourself.

Once connected, try asking:

  • “What did I record today?”
  • “Find my memos about the kitchen renovation and list the decisions I made.”
  • “Read my memos labeled Work from last week and write a status update.”
  • “What ideas did I have for the podcast this month?”

If your assistant doesn’t use Whisper Memos on its own, mention “my Whisper Memos” in your prompt.

To stop an assistant from reading your memos, remove Whisper Memos from that app’s connector or MCP settings. If you don’t use a connection for 30 days, it expires and you’ll need to approve it again.

The QR code doesn’t open the app

Make sure Whisper Memos is installed, up to date, and signed in. You can also open the page on your iPhone and tap Open Whisper Memos.

The page says “Link expired” or “Already used”

Start the connection again from your AI app.

The assistant can’t find a memo

Ask it to look through more memos or widen the date range. Dates are matched in UTC, so memos recorded late at night may fall on the next day.
